RG Barry Brands, which operates retail web sites for footwear and handbag brands Dearfoams, Baggallini and Foot Petals, has hired Heather Richard as its new e-commerce director. Richard most recently was director of interactive marketing for gourmet food and gift baskets at 1-800-Flowers.com Inc., RG Barry says.
Richard will oversee all online strategy and management across RG Barry’s brands, including directing marketing, operations and growth, the company says.
“We are very excited that Heather will be guiding what we view as one of the fastest-growing and most important areas of our future business,” says RG Barry president and CEO Greg Tunney. “We recognize that we must drive digital growth not only on our own web sites, but also on the many other platforms selling our brands.”
RG Barry expects web sales from its own and its resellers’ e-commerce sites to grow to 10% of its total consolidated revenues in the next two to three years, up from about 2% to 3% as it has been historically, Tunney says.
Prior to 1-800-Flowers, where Richard worked from 2010 to 2013, she was manager of search marketing for Sears Holdings Corp., from 2007 to 2010, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before that, she held positions in SEO and digital marketing at several media companies including DoubleClick Performics, Socrates Media and inVentiv Communications, the profile says. In the course of her career, she has worked on web marketing for brands including 1-800-Baskets, Fannie May, Cheryl’s, The Popcorn Factory, Lerner, Lane Bryant, Mazda, U.S. Cellular, United Parcel Service and La-Z-Boy Inc., RG Barry says.
“It is very exciting to be joining a team that has shown its commitment to digital marketing and e-commerce by making the kinds of long-term investments in strategy, infrastructure and people necessary to succeed,” Richard says.
1-800-Flowers is No. 58 in the 2013 Top 500 Guide. Sears is No. 6.
