Men’s Wearhouse names a new head of e-commerce

The Men’s Wearhouse Inc. has a new head of e-commerce. 

The men’s apparel and accessories retailer, No. 153 in the 2015 Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has hired Ben Baum as its executive vice president and chief digital officer reporting directly to CEO Doug Ewert.

Baum previously served as chief digital officer of Bebe Stores Inc. and as head of business development, multichannel retail, shopping at Google Inc. He also held several merchandising positions at Target, including women's apparel and segmentation merchandising.

“Ben Baum will lead all digital and omnichannel commerce and initiatives across digital, mobile and emerging platforms within The Men's Wearhouse organization including all individual brands and businesses,” Ewert says.

The position of digital media officer is a newly created position at The Men’s Wearhouse, the company says. The Men’s Wearhouse has yet to disclose many specific aspects of Baum’s new position, but part of the job will be overseeing a bigger e-commerce channel that generated Internet Retailer-estimated sales of $215.5 million in 2014.

Web sales grew 251.5% for The Men’s Wearhouse last year from $61.3 million in 2013 in large part because of the acquisition of men’s apparel and accessories retailer Jos. A Bank in March 2014.
