Diane von Furstenberg hires her first CEO

Fashion designer and e-retailer Diane von Furstenberg has hired luxury industry veteran Paolo Riva as her brand’s first CEO following a two-year search.
The top role is a new one for the luxury label, which sells online through DVF.com and ranks No. 486 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Top 500 Guide. Von Furstenberg and co-chairman Joel Horowitz led the brand previously. Riva had been vice president of apparel and visual merchandising for Tory Burch LLC, No. 139 in the Top 500 Guide. Riva also held roles at luxury labels Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino.
Riva takes over a luxury label with steady growth in has online sales over the past five years. Top500Guide.com data shows DVF’s e-commerce business has grown to $28.4 million in web sales in 2014 from an Internet Retailer-estimated $10 million in 2010. The brand is particularly strong on Facebook, where it boasts an audience of 900,000 fans, and it’s popular on Instagram, where it has more than 777,000 followers.
