E-commerce platform provider BigCommerce has hired a pair of executives who will be responsible for improving the company’s technology and growing its sales.

Brian Dhatt becomes BigCommerce’s first chief technology officer. Dhatt will take responsibility for the vendor’s engineering team as BigCommerce looks to establish a stronger foothold in the industry. He most recently had the same role with cross-border e-commerce provider Borderfree, which was acquired by Pitney Bowes for $395 million in May 2015, from March 2013 until January, according to his LinkedIn profile. Dhatt has also worked for online travel booking site Jetsetter and Best Buy Co. Inc. (No. 12 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500).

“Nowhere have I seen this commitment to the customer and their unique challenges more present than within the walls of BigCommerce, and I look forward to leading an engineering organization that continues to push the boundaries of innovation,” Dhatt said.

Meanwhile, Tod Klubnik joins BigCommerce as its new senior vice president of global sales. He spent the previous six years as senior vice president of sales at workplace talent management software provider PeopleAdmin.

Dhatt and Klubnik join BigCommerce five months after the company raised $30 million in a funding round led by investment firm GGV Capital. BigCommerce is the e-commerce platform provider for four retailers in the Top 500, including (No. 381) and Austin Bazaar (No. 490).
