Internet Retailer unveils the who’s who of e-commerce technology providers

January 12, 2016 03:50 PM

Austin, Texas-based company Volusion supplies e-commerce platform technology to 14 of North American’s largest online retailers, which makes it the ninth-ranked company in this category in terms of the number of Top 1000 clients it holds. The first-ranked company, Magento, provides e-commerce platform services to 179 merchants—including Accessory Geeks, 123Stores.com and AlevaStores.com—all of which collectively boosted their online sales 28% in 2014 to more than $12 billion.

Demandware, meanwhile, tends to work with midsized and large apparel and accessories merchants, as it counts 21 Top 1000 clients with annual web sales between $10 million to $50 million, and 34 clients with $50 million to $500 million in online sales. And NetSuite counts 23 Top 1000 clients with sales growth last year of 18%.

These are just a few of the details subscribers can learn about e-commerce technology and services providers from Internet Retailer’s first-ever Vendors to the Top 1000 database, which launches today on Top500Guide.com. The 2016 Vendors to the Top 1000 database allows e-retailers to analyze the competitive positions of existing and prospective e-commerce technology providers and the technology vendors their e-retail competitors use.

E-commerce technology providers themselves can see how they stack up against competitors in their sector—who their clients are and what the competition charges for their services. "Until now, our Top500Guide.com database has provided rankings and comprehensive data on the world's largest direct-to-consumer and business-to-business web merchants," says Internet Retailer Publisher Jack Love. "But from the beginning I've been dreaming of ranking the other side of the e-commerce growth equation—the vendors who drive e-commerce forward with their technologies. Today, the dream is fulfilled."

The database ranks and profiles 1,773 e-commerce vendors that serve America's 1,000 largest e-retailers. Up to 24 metrics are included in each ranked vendor including:

  • Number of Top 1000 clients
  • Number of clients in five sales range categories—from under $10 million to above $500 million
  • Online sales totals of each vendor’s Top 1000 clients
  • Growth rates of each company’s e-retail clients

Subscriptions to the Vendors to the Top 1000 are available on Top500Guide.com (an Internet Retailer web site).
