E-commerce is off to a good start for AutoZone Inc. in the first quarter of fiscal 2012.

For the quarter ended Nov. 19, AutoZone, No. 121 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, reported:

  • Online sales, including all sales from AutoZone.com and AllData.com, which sells diagnostic and related repair work software, grew year over year 9.5% to $40.2 million from $36.7 million.
  • Total sales of $1.92 billion, an increase of 7.3% from $1.79 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2011.
  • Comparable-store sales increased 4.6%.
  • Net income increased to $191.1 million, up by 11.1% from $172 million.

Internet Retailer calculates the web accounted for 2.1% of total sales, the same as in the first quarter of fiscal 2011.

“This past quarter marked our twenty-first consecutive quarter of double-digit growth,” says CEO Bill Rhodes.
