Feelunique.com Ltd., a London-based beauty products merchant, has received $28.3 million (20 million pounds) in new funding to help with global expansion.
The retailer, No. 296 in the Internet Retailer 2015 Europe 500, has translated Feelunique.com into five languages—Chinese, English, French, German and Spanish—and fulfills orders for 110 countries from distribution centers in the United Kingdom and France. Its purchase last year of French retail fragrances chain Parfumeries Rive Droite added four boutiques in France.
Feelunique.com, which launched as a web-only retailer in 2005, also has three shops and two salons in the Channel Islands.
The new funding, announced Monday, came from existing investor Palamon Capital Partners and two new investors. Feelunique CEO Joël Palix declined to identify the new investors. The company recorded retail sales of $92.1 million (65 million pounds) in 2015. He did not break out web sales.
Feelunique.com carries more than 22,000 products from more than 450 beauty brands worldwide and focuses on luxury brands including Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, Laura Mercier, Estée Lauder, Nars and Liz Earle. Its websites average more than 120,000 visits per day, the company says, and it has more than 1.6 million registered customers--87% female-- and its repeat customers buy six times per year.
