Jeweler Tiffany & Co. will sell its products through another online retailer for the first time.
Tiffany, No. 127 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, on April 27 will start selling a limited number of collections through Net-a-Porter.com in a push to expand its reach internationally, Tiffany says. Tiffany sells online in 13 countries while Net-a-Porter sells online in more than 170 countries.
“We are thrilled to serve as Tiffany’s first ever global e-commerce partner, an extraordinary coup for both brands,” Net-a-Porter vice president Sarah Rutson said. “By marrying the ultimate legacy jewelry brand with the ultimate destination in online luxury fashion, we hope to re-introduce Tiffany to a highly engaged and fashion-conscious global consumer.”
This isn’t the first time Net-A-Porter has teamed up with a well-known, high-end brand on a web exclusive. The online fashion retailer, which merged with Yoox Group last year, created a microsite showcasing two collections from luxury German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in January 2012. The renamed Yoox Net-a-Porter Group is No. 72 in the Top 500.
In its 10-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last month, Tiffany reported that online sales accounted for 6% of overall revenue, or $246.3 million, in fiscal 2015.
