SAN FRANCISCO–April 30, 2015–Delivery Agent, Inc., the market leader in turning audiences into customers for the world’s leading global brands, today announced a strategic partnership with Sony Electronics to extend television commerce (t-commerce). This partnership expands the capabilities of the Sony connected experience and opens additional commerce and advertising revenue streams for the company.
The technology driving the deal is Delivery Agent’s ShopTV t-commerce application, now embedded in 2013 and 2014 Sony smart televisions and 2013, 2014 and 2015 Blu-ray Disc players and accessible through the Sony Entertainment Network. The technology gives consumers the ability to conveniently engage with, and securely shop for, thousands of products from top mass merchant retailers, including Overstock, and brands from CBS to Toyota via the Sony remote control. In future updates, Sony will activate remote controlled engagement and shopping directly from programming and advertisement, resulting in an interactive co-viewing experience from the TV.
“Equipping Sony televisions and Blu-Ray players with ShopTV is in line with our continued focus on innovation,” said Nick Colsey, vice president of business development, Sony Electronics. “Bringing together Sony technology and Delivery Agent’s immersive television engagement and shopping platform will enable us to deliver a next generation viewing experience to the Sony home.”
This is the second partnership between Delivery Agent and Sony. At the 2014 IFA Berlin show, Sony Corporation announced the integration of Delivery Agent’s ShopTV into Sony’s TV SideView application, enabling viewers to shop for products seen in and related to TV programming directly from the TV SideView application, available globally on more than 4 million iOS and Android devices.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Sony to redefine the television viewing experience,” said Mike Fitzsimmons, Delivery Agent CEO. “Consumers are no longer content to sit back and view television as they had in prior years. The average person spends 5+ hours a day consuming entertainment and expects a deeper level of engagement during that time. Our work with Sony will deliver on consumer expectations.”
