Scott’s Miracle-Gro hires a former Chalkfly exec as vice president of e-commerce

Three months after the business of office products retailer Chalkfly was acquired by and absorbed into Global Office Solutions in November, Lissa Cupp, Chalkfly’s chief marketing officer since January 2014, has been named vice president of e-commerce at The Scott’s Miracle-Gro Company.

Cupp joined Scott’s Miracle-Gro in February. At the company, one of the world’s largest marketers of branded consumer lawn and garden products with $2.87 billion in annual revenue, she leads the strategy and execution of the e-commerce business, including Amazon, sales through the sites of retailer partners and direct-to-consumer sales.  

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Cupp previously was vice president of e-commerce at ACCO Brands and director of marketing and product management at Standard Register prior to Chalkfly. She also held positions in sales, marketing and business development at such companies as Harte Hanks and RR Donnelley & Sons. Cup also was president of her own company, Simplysignit.com.

Chalkfly, a web-only retailer, was founded in 2012 by brothers Andrew and Ryan Landau, who quit jobs at Google Inc. and IBM Corp., respectively, to launch the startup. A smaller entry into the competitive office supply category, Chalkfly was distinguished by its business model, which donated 5% of every sale to charity.
