Scholastic Inc. today said that it has hired Dani Nadel as chief digital marketing officer for Scholastic book clubs and e-commerce. The retailer says she will work closely with Tom Burke, who has won promotion to chief e-commerce officer, book clubs and e-commerce.
Scholastic, a publisher and retailer of books, magazines and educational materials, is No. 54 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
Nadel was president at Publicis Modem, a position she held since 2008. She had been the firm’s executive vice president and managing director. She also held executive jobs at marketing firms Modem Media and Digitas, serving such clients as LG Electronics Inc. and PayPal.
"We are confident that the breadth and depth of senior executive-level experience in digital marketing and media that Dani brings to Scholastic will be instrumental in helping us reach the goals we have set out for our company's exciting digital future," says Judy Newman, president of book clubs and e-commerce. "Her work with top tier clients in their respective industries makes Dani particularly well suited to help realize Scholastic's digital vision and strategy."
Scholastic says it hired Burke in 2009. He was head of e-commerce at Barnes & Noble Inc., which is No. 41 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
