Nordstrom Inc. is hiring more seasonal employees to support its growing e-commerce business over the holidays.
Nordstrom, No. 18 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, will hire 1,900 seasonal employees for its fulfillment and distribution centers this year, up 18.8% from 1,600 seasonal hires in those facilities last year. Overall, Nordstrom is hiring 11,400 seasonal employees across its stores and distribution centers, down 3.4% from 11,800 seasonal employees last year.
The fourth quarter and the holiday season within it are of great importance to Nordstrom from an e-commerce perspective. Those online sales accounted for 33.6% of its total e-commerce sales of $2.832 billion for 2015.
