Hayneedle will hire 300 employees by the end of this year

Hayneedle Inc., a web-only retailer of home decor and furniture, is beefing up its staff. The retailer is hiring about 300 employees with the aim to bring its headcount to 1,000 from 700 by the end of the year.

The retailer, No. 95 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, says it is on track to exceed $500 million in sales this year, up from $404 million in 2015, according to Internet Retailer estimates. It will create new jobs in California, Ohio and its headquarters in Omaha, Neb.  

“Expanding our team will enable to build on the substantial growth we have experienced and provide us with added expertise to scale operations and pursue new, high-impact services,” says Jon Barker, president and CEO of Hayneedle.

In February online marketplace bought Hayneedle. And in August, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (No. 4), announced it is buying in a cash and stock deal valued at over $3 billion. Walmart says it expects to close the deal before the year is out.

Hayneedle is hiring for positions ranging from entry-level to director roles in technology, human resources, operations, marketing, merchandising and customer care, The additional staff will support growth and the upcoming peak holiday season, Hayneedle says.

In addition, Hayneedle recently hired some top-level executives.

Tom Clement has re-joined Hayneedle as vice president of operations. In his new role, Clement will lead Hayneedle's supply chain, fulfillment, and engineering and facilities functions. He has worked in e-commerce and store supply chain development for Nike Inc. (No. 47), Cornerstone Brands, a division of HSN Inc. (No. 25), Macy’s Inc. (No. 6), The Home Depot Inc. (No. 7) and other major retailers in the United States and Japan.

Ben Dekarske was hired as director of e-commerce systems to lead the technology arm of the online retailer. He is tasked with improving website speed and performance and developing mobile apps. Dekarske has more than 10 years of information technology expertise, leading the IT effort for yearbook, class ring and graduation gift retailer Jostens’ partnership with photo and customized products retailer (No. 46).

Lindsey Johnson joins Hayneedle as director of talent acquisition to head up hiring and recruiting. Previously, Johnson led global talent acquisition at payment systems company ACI Worldwide. She has more than 12 years of experience in hiring management and recruiting.
