E-commerce stocks outpace the broader market

E-commerce stocks in the Internet Retailer Online Retail Index gained value last week over the prior week, besting the overall market.
The e-commerce index increased 0.4%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.0% and the Standard & Poor’s 500 lost 0.6% last week.
1-800-Flowers.com Inc. and Shutterfly Inc. led the index, each advancing by 10.8%. Shutterfly last week announced a deal to offer customized Hallmark Cards Inc. greeting cards via its Treat.com site. 1-800-Flowers and Shutterfly are No. 51 and N. 53, respectively, in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
The Online Retail Index tracks 25 publicly traded e-retailers and e-commerce technology providers. Fourteen advanced last week, while 11 lost ground.

• Bluefly, 8.3%
• eBay, 5.2%
