Office supplies chain OfficeMax Inc. is hoping its new mobile app hits the sweet spot with busy business travelers. Called Mobile Print Center, the app allows users to access documents from their smartphones and schedule times for them to be printed at 900 OfficeMax stores around the country.
“OfficeMax listened to our ‘road warrior’ customers who need to print on the go and often feel their documents are trapped on their phones,” says Jeff Haddon, mobile marketing manager for OfficeMax, No. 7 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. “With hundreds of in-store print centers across the country, we designed the Mobile Print Center by OfficeMax app to bring our print services to a mobile audience.”
The free app, available for iPhone and Android devices, lets consumers retrieve documents or images attached to e-mails, in the Google Docs program or on their phones and schedule them for printing and pick-up at an OfficeMax print center. Customers can choose paper size and type, color, binding and other features and also pick out the store location. They will get a call from the print center confirming the order and pick-up time, or they can choose to receive text messages about the order status.
