Online art retailer Art.com Inc. is turning to a ride sharing app executive to drive its future growth.
Art.com, No. 123 in the Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, has hired Kira Wampler as its new CEO. She starts her new job Nov. 28 and replaces Chuck Kurth, Art.com’s chief financial officer who had been interim CEO. Kurth took over as interim CEO for Geoffroy Martin. An Art.com spokeswoman says that Martin left the company in December 2015 but declined to specify why.
Wampler had spent the past two years as chief marketing officer at ridesharing app Lyft. She had previously held roles with visual arts platform Lytro and tax preparation software vendor Intuit.
“Kira is an exceptional leader and consumer visionary with a stellar track record of success, delivering high growth and building brands in extremely competitive consumer sectors,” said Art.com board chairman Dan Marriott.
Art.com generated an Internet Retailer-estimated $278.2 million in online sales last year, up 12% from $248.4 million in 2014.
