Apple, Overstock and Williams-Sonoma top availability tests

Apple.com, Overstock.com and Williams-Sonoma.com placed first among large retailers in July web site availability tests, says Compuware Gomez. Last month, online shoppers using Internet Explorer could access Apple.com 100% of the time. Overstock.com and Williams-Sonoma.com tied with the top availability ratings—99.99%—in Firefox testing.

Dell.com, OfficeMax.com and Sears.com tied for second in Internet Explorer tests with a score of 99.99% availability, and three tied for fifth place at 99.98%: Gap.com, Staples.com and Williams-Sonoma.com.

In Firefox testing, HPShopping.com and OfficeMax.com tied for third place at 99.98% availability, and Dell.com and Target.com tied for fifth at 99.95%.

The average Internet Explorer availability for the 19 retailers measured in July was 99.85%, according to the Compuware Gomez Benchmarks study. The average Firefox availability for the same group of retailers last month was 99.76%.

Availability represents the percentage of tests that correctly load.
